In protest against the provocative statements made by the exiled former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted from power, a torch procession was held in Jamalpur demanding the ban of the Awami League and an end to the disruptive activities of the banned Chhatra League.
The torch procession was organized by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and the Jatiya Nagorik Committee Jamalpur district unit on Friday evening.
The procession started from the Faujdari Mor in the city and circled the main roads, eventually ending at the campus of the Government Ashek Mahmud College.
Following the procession, a brief rally was held at the college campus, where speakers emphasized that former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who had been ousted from power, should be brought back from abroad and given exemplary punishment.
They also demanded that the Awami League, a terrorist organization like Chhatra League, should be banned, warning that if their demands were not met, a movement would be launched.
They urged the administration to take action against the operations of the Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League, and to arrest the identified perpetrators.
