Gono Odhikar Parishad has criticized the government for failing to arrest the perpetrators of the July-August revolution genocide even after six months.
They issued a warning of intensified protests if the authorities do not take immediate action to bring those responsible to justice
The announcement came during a protest rally and human chain organized by the party’s Rangpur district branch on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, leaders and activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad took out a protest march from the Rangpur Public Library ground.
The march passed through City Bazaar and concluded at Kachari Bazaar, where a rally was held.
During the rally, speakers criticized the government for failing to arrest the accused even after six months since the revolution.
They said that the lack of legal action was a mockery of the movement and emphasized that if justice is not served promptly, the students and people of Bengal will escalate their protests.
Prominent figures addressing the gathering included senior member of Gono Odhikar Parishad Hanif Khan Sojib, former acting convener of the district Sher-e-Khoda Asadullah, district president of Shramik Odhikar Parishad Ariful Islam, district general secretary of Jubo Odhikar Parishad Kamruzzaman, district representative of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Imran Kabir, and district member Haji Mohammad Jamal, among others.
The protest concluded with a renewed demand for immediate action, with leaders affirming their commitment to intensifying demonstrations if the authorities fail to take necessary measures.
