A local Awami League leader was killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG-powered autorickshaw in Netrokona on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was Kamaruzzaman Kamal, 52, general secretary of Duoj Union Awami League in Atpara upazila.
Two others were injured in the accident, but their identities remain unknown.
Atpara police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Ashrafuzzaman said: "Both the bus and the autorickshaw involved in the accident have been seized, and the body has been sent to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital morgue."
According to police and local sources, Kamaruzzaman resided in Netrokona district town but frequently visited his village home. In the morning, he was travelling from Netrokona to his village in Atpara by autorickshaw when it collided with a bus heading toward Netrokona, resulting in his death.
