Police have recovered two hanging bodies from separate places in Patuakhali.
The deceased were identified as Trishna Biswas, 22, (BP-0323251196), whose body was recovered from the women's barracks of Patuakhali Police Lines, and Riya Moni Akhter, a student, who was recovered from room number 201 of Patuakhali Government Women's College Hostel.
The police recovered these two bodies on Sunday morning and sent them to the Patuakhali Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Constable Trishna Biswas was the daughter of Krishna Biswas from Purba Kamalapur village of Dasar upazila of Madaripur.
Trishna Biswas joined the service in 2023. Reportedly, she was mentally disturbed due to family issues.
Citing her roommates, Patuakhali Additional Superintendent of Police (Finance and Administration) Ahmad Mainul Hasan said: “A few days ago, the female constable sought medical attention, but she did not seek treatment at the hospital even doctor advised her to be admitted to the hospital.”
On the other hand, police recovered the hanging body of a student named Riya Moni Akhter from room number 201 of the Patuakhali Government Women's College hostel at 10am on the same day.
Riya Moni Akhter was a second-year student of the science department of the institution.
Riya Moni's home is in the Dashmina upazila of Patuakhali, and she was the daughter of Monirul Islam.
In this regard, Patuakhali Government Women's College Principal Professor Masum Billah said Riya Moni Akhtar was a student of his educational institution.
The matter is under police investigation.
