At least four workers lost their lives, and two others were critically injured in a gas pipeline explosion in Bahubal Upazila of Habiganj.
Zahidul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bahubal police station, confirmed the matter.
The explosion occurred around 9am on Tuesday at a project site of Akij Venture Limited, a factory under construction in the Dubai area of Putijuri Union, Bahubal Upazila.
All the deceased were residents of Chandpur district, though their detailed identities have yet to be confirmed.
Locals said Akij Group is constructing a factory in the Dubai area. At around 9am, an explosion occurred at the gas substation. Two workers died instantly, while two others succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital. The injured have been admitted to a hospital for treatment.
OC Zahidul Islam said the condition of the two injured workers remains critical.
