A fire broke out at Madhaiya Bazar in Chandina, Comilla, burning down over 50 business establishments.

The incident took place around 11:45pm on Sunday at a sweet shop. It soon spread to nearby shops, causing significant damage.

Upon receiving the news, firefighters from three stations in Comilla arrived at the scene around 12:30am. After an hour-long effort involving six fire units, the blaze was fully brought under control by 1:30am.

The information was confirmed on Monday morning by Comilla Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Liton Das.

He said that while the Chandina Fire Service was the first to respond, they could not control the flames initially. Later, the Daudkandi Fire Station and Comilla Fire Station joined the efforts, successfully extinguishing the fire.

According to Md Toufiqul Islam Bhuiyan, assistant sirector of Comilla Fire Service, preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from a stove in the sweet shop. The exact cause will be determined after further investigation.
