Gopalganj Sadar police arrested Dr Faruk Ahmed, the resident medical officer (RMO) of Gopalganj General Hospital, early Saturday from the hospital's residential area.
He has been sentenced to five days in imprisonment for contempt of court.
Confirming the matter, officer-in-charge (OC) Mir Md Sajedur Rahman of Gopalganj Sadar police station said: “Dr Faruk Ahmed was summoned by the court to submit certain documents in connection with a case. However, as he failed to appear in court repeatedly, the court found him guilty of contempt and sentenced him to five days of simple imprisonment. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued, based on which the police took him into custody early today.”
