Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M Sakhawat Hussain, adviser for the Ministry of Shipping, has said the current cabinet, or the council of interim government advisers, has no dishonest or corrupt members.
At the 47th Annual General Meeting of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) on Sunday in Chittagong, the adviser said the interim government is working with integrity.
"Over the last three months, you have not heard of anyone from this government smuggling billions of dollars abroad. There are no dishonest individuals in our cabinet," he added.
Sakhawat said efforts are underway to further expand the fleet of the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC).
He expressed hope that eight new ships would be added to the BSC's fleet within the next two years, resulting in higher dividends for shareholders.
During his speech as chair of the meeting, the adviser said: "There will no longer be any theft or mismanagement in the BSC as seen in the past. Anyone caught stealing will face consequences.”
