BNP standing committee member AZM Zahid Hossain said no one has succeeded in the past by trying to form King's Party from any political ambition and no one will succeed in the future.
He made this statement on Saturday while distributing winter clothing to the underprivileged in Sylhet on Saturday.
Dr Zahid further said: “We believe that forming political parties is natural. If a political party is formed, they will come to the field and present programs to the people. The public will accept the programs they find suitable.
“However, no party formed under the patronage of the administration will ever succeed. Just as no tree grows under the shadow of another, only parasitic plants do. This should be kept in mind.”
Although not naming them, Dr Zahid commented on discussions regarding the formation of a political party by those associated with the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
He said: “To our friends attempting to form a new political party, I request you not to engage with the remnants of fallen and exiled dictators. If you continue with such meetings, the people will misunderstand it and the wrong message will be sent to the public.”
He further added, “BNP is a party that stands by those who are suffering. We never abandon people in their distress, nor do we smuggle money abroad while they suffer. BNP is a party of the people.”
