A traditional boat race was held on the Kumar River in Gopalganj to celebrate Victory Day on Monday.
The event took place in Hoglakandi village of Maheshpur union, organized by local youths.
Hundreds of men and women from nearby areas gathered along the banks of the Kumar River to witness this cherished tradition of rural Bangladesh.
Two boats, Mayurpankhi and Jubo Express, competed in the race.
Giyas Uddin Galib, a member of the race organizing committee, said: “We organized this boat race to celebrate the joy of Victory Day. Every year, we aim to make the Victory Day boat race more festive. This initiative is part of our efforts to revive a lost tradition during the month of victory.”
The boat Mayurpankhi claimed first place in the race.
Later, young entrepreneur Giyas Uddin presented cash prizes to the owners of the participating boats.
