The Rangamati district administration has discouraged tourists from visiting Sajek on Wednesday for safety reasons.
The decision was announced in a notice signed by Additional District Magistrate Jobaida Akter on Tuesday night.
The notice said that the decision was made to ensure law and order and safeguard tourists in Sajek and surrounding areas of Baghaichari upazila, Rangamati.
A gunfight erupted on Tuesday in Sajek between members of the Shantu Larma-led Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) and the Prasit Khisa-led United People's Democratic Front (UPDF), reportedly over territorial control.
On Saturday, the two armed groups clashed in the region, resulting in injuries to 4–5 PCJSS members, according to reports.
