A protest rally was held in Barisal city demanding the immediate release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Bangladesh Sammilito Sanatani Jagaran Mancha.
On Tuesday, Hindu community members gathered under the banner of the Bangladesh Sammilito Sanatani Jagoran Jote, Barisal unit, blocking Sadar Road in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall.
The demonstration caused significant traffic disruptions across the city's main roads.
Protesters alleged that the case against Chinmoy Krishna Das was fabricated and politically motivated.
According to them, he was apprehended by the Detective Branch (DB) police at Dhaka Airport in connection with a case in Chittagong.
They claimed that the arrest followed Chinmoy’s vocal protests against attacks on Hindu temples, as well as looting and arson targeting Hindu homes.
The protesters demanded Chinmoy's unconditional release and warned of a tougher movement if their demands were not met.
They accused authorities of falsely labelling Chinmoy as someone who disrupted communal harmony and disrespected the national flag, describing these allegations as baseless.
The demonstration included a procession that moved through the city's main roads, with law enforcement agencies maintaining a firm but peaceful presence throughout the protest.
Earlier, on Monday night, another rally was held in Barisal to denounce Chinmoy's arrest, which included a torch-lit march organized by the Bangladesh Sammilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall.
Protesters reiterated their stance, demanding the immediate release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari and vowing to intensify their movement if the situation remained unresolved.
