The new dormitory-1 at the proposed new campus of Comilla University (CoU) has been named Shaheed Abdul Kayum Hall in honour of Abdul Kayum, a student killed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
The decision came during the 101st syndicate meeting of the university on Thursday, confirmed Registrar Md Majibur Rahman Mazumder.
The registrar said: "In today's syndicate meeting, it has been decided to name dormitory-1 of the new campus after our university student Abdul Kayum, who was martyred during the movement."
Abdul Kayum, a student in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at Comilla University, was shot while participating in the "Long March to Dhaka" on August 5.
He died on August 6 while undergoing treatment at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar.
