A devastating fire broke out at a yarn factory and warehouse in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
The incident occurred around 7pm on Tuesday in the Jatramura area of Tarab Municipality.
Two units of the fire service managed to put out the fire after an hour-long effort, around 8:30pm.
No casualties were reported.
Local businessman Ripon Mia said that he owns a yarn factory named "Friends" in the Jatramura area, adjacent to a cotton warehouse owned by a man named Ujjal.
The fire started suddenly at Ujjal's cotton warehouse around 7pm and quickly spread to the neighbouring yarn factory.
About three tons of yarn and machinery were destroyed.
Upon receiving the news, two units of the Kachpur Fire Service, along with a unit from Yunus Paper Mill, worked together for an hour to extinguish the fire.
Ripon Mia estimated the loss to be around Tk2.6 million.
Narayanganj Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Fakhruddin Ahmed said: "The two units from Kachpur Fire Service have extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire will be determined later."
