The Rapid Action Battalion arrested two leaders of the banned organization Chhatra League in Sylhet for bringing out a procession and chanting “Joy Bangla” slogan.
They were arrested from the Kotwali police station area on Monday night.
Earlier that morning, they were seen holding a flash procession at Purbo Dargah Gate, chanting "Joy Bangla" while wearing black masks.
The arrestees are Rakibul Hasan Nirab, 25, vice president of the Sylhet Bimanbandar thana unit of Chhatra League, and Mithun Debnath, 24, joint organizational secretary of the same unit.
RAB-9 Assistant Superintendent of Police Moshiur Rahman Sohel confirmed the arrests on Tuesday morning.
He said that the procession was led by Nirab and that both individuals are accused in cases involving sabotage and explosives filed with Kotwali police station.
