The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model police station Faizul Azim Noman has been withdrawn just two months after joining.

A notification was issued withdrawing him from the Sadar police station and transferring him to the Chittagong Range on Sunday.

The notification, signed by Additional Police Commissioner (DIG) of Chittagong Division Ahsan Habib Palash, said that OC Faizul Azim has been attached to the DIG’s office in Chittagong until further instructions.

Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent Mohammad Rahmat Ullah confirmed receiving the order to withdraw OC Faizul from the Sadar police station, saying that he would be removed from the post immediately.

OC Faizul Azim Noman joined the Sadar Model police station on September 19, following the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

After his joining, several allegations surfaced against him, including accepting bribes, engaging in case trading, setting up a relaxation room inside the station, failing to arrest any of the accused in cases of attacks and murders during the movement, and maintaining connections with Awami League leaders in Cox's Bazar before August 5.

Additionally, on November 7, a fishing boat named "Allah’s Doa-3" from Banshkhali, Chittagong, was attacked by pirates at the Sonadia point of the Bay of Bengal.

During the attack, the boat's helmsman, Mokarram from Kutubdia, was killed, and 19 fishermen were kidnapped by the pirates.

However, after disabling the engine, the pirates released them.

Five days later, another fishing boat found the fishermen floating at sea and rescued them.

The 19 fishermen were later returned to the northern Dhurung Akbarbali ghat in Kutubdia on Sunday evening.

However, just three days later, on Tuesday, OC Faizul Azim Noman organized a sudden and dramatic press briefing at the Cox's Bazar Sadar Model police station, where he took credit for the rescue of the 19 fishermen.

He said that multiple police teams had conducted raids and forced the pirates to release the fishermen.

Additionally, recent media reports have highlighted allegations of corruption and mismanagement against him.
