Maulana Bhasani's 48th death anniversary being observed in Tangail

His mausoleum is covered with flowers as people pay tribute and express their respect and love for the great leader

The 48th death anniversary of the renowned leader Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani is being observed in Tangail with various programs.

Bhasani, popularly known as “Majlum Jananeta” (the leader of the downtrodden), passed away on November 17, 1976.

His mausoleum is covered with flowers as people pay tribute and express their respect and love for the great leader.

The mausoleum premises in Santosh, Tangail, resonate with the slogan “Jug Jug Jio Tumi Maulana Bhasani” chanted by his countless followers and devotees.

Several small shops have also been set up around the mausoleum on this occasion.

At 7:30am, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Anwarul Azim Akhand, deans of various faculties, provosts, department heads, directors of student welfare and counseling centers, proctors, registrars, heads of offices, teachers, staff, and students of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University laid floral wreaths at Bhasani's mausoleum.

Subsequently, members of the Bhasani family, the University Officers’ Association, the third and fourth-grade employees’ union, NAP Bhasani, Bhasani Parishad, and various organizations located on the university campus also laid separate wreaths.

Additionally, tabarak (blessed food) was distributed at 8am.
