Banned Chhatra League activist beaten, handed to police at Rajshahi Medical College

There is a case against him, police says

A banned Chhatra League activist, was beaten by students and handed over to police at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) after being recognized at the campus on Tuesday morning.

Shihab Al Rashid Galib, 27, a student at Rangpur Medical College, originally hails from Chakpailanpur village in Pabna Sadar.

He was previously enrolled at RMC, where he was reportedly known for wielding significant influence as a Chhatra League activist.

According to RMC students, Galib was permanently expelled from the dental unit in 2017 due to disciplinary violations.

Later, he transferred to Rangpur Medical College. Galib returned to RMC on Tuesday to sit for a professional (prof) examination, where students recognized him at the main gate around 9:30am and, after an altercation, handed him over to the police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ashraful Islam of Rajpara Police Station said: “There is a case against Shihab Al Rashid for his involvement in an attack on students and civilians before the fall of the Awami League government.”

The OC added that Galib has been shown as arrested under this existing case and has been sent to jail via court order.
