Police have arrested two Chinese nationals for their involvement in gang raping a woman in Gazipur.
They were arrested from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka as they attempted to flee Bangladesh for China.
They were presented before the Gazipur Metropolitan Court, which ordered them to be sent to jail.
The arrestees are Wang Zhao Yang, also known as Abdur Rahman, 28, son of Wang Zui Jun, and Wang Zhaofeng, 45.
Three Chinese nationals—Wang Zhao Yang, Wang Zhaofeng and Yang Jing, 41—were renting a house in Kashimpur, Gazipur, where they operated a business.
Wang Zhao Yang married a divorcee who lived near their house. About a month after the marriage, on the night of August 23, the woman was gang raped by her husband and the other two men.
Following the incident, she filed a case on August 27, naming her husband and the two others as the accused.
All three accused had been in hiding since the case was filed.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Court Inspector Zahidul Islam said that the arrested individuals were presented in court on Wednesday, where the court ordered them to be held in custody.
