Afia Akhter has officially assumed her duties as the first female Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi district.
She took the oath of office on Sunday morning at the Deputy Commissioner's office, where she received the handover from the acting deputy commissioner of Rajshahi, Asim Kumar.
Following the ceremony, she held an introductory meeting with various officials and staff in her office, during which district administration officials welcomed her with flowers.
In a notification issued by the Ministry of Public Administration’s Field Administration-2 branch on Wednesday, Afia Akhter, who previously served as the Zonal Settlement Officer in Chittagong, was appointed as the DC of Rajshahi District.
Since the establishment of Rajshahi District, she has become the first female DC in its 254-year history.
