Affordable vegetable sales begin in Gaibandha

Vegetables are sourced directly from farmers, ensuring fair prices

Sale of different types of vegetables has started at Janatar Bazar, a temporary market, in front of the Police Cafe in the town in Gaibandha on Thursday.

Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, district unit inaugurated the market to help the common people to purchase vegetables at affordable prices.

Primarily, 10 items of vegetables are being sold in the market at affordable prices. Per piece of bottle gourd is being sold at Tk30-40, sweet gourd at Tk40, cauliflower at Tk50, Kakrol at Tk45, Potal at Tk30, and each kilogram potato is being sold at Tk50.

A crowd of customers was noticed in every shop in the market and they expressed their happiness to buy the daily necessities at a lower price in the market.

The vegetables that are collected from the growers at fair prices are being sold to the customers at a nominal profit, said a coordinator.

Md Shariful Islam, a customer who purchased three items of vegetables from the market, said prices of most vegetables are on a downward trend in the market compared to other kitchen markets.
