To provide safe shelters for birds, volunteers from the Batighar Adarsha Library have installed clay pots on trees across Tangail.

More than fifty clay pots were placed on trees in the municipal garden and nearby areas on Thursday, creating safe spaces for birds to live.

Jahid Hasan, a member of Batighar Adarsha Library, said: "We aim to create a safe haven for birds, fostering the beauty of nature through our collective efforts. Birds are an essential part of our environment, representing nature’s beauty and biodiversity."

Kamruzzaman, the founder of Batighar Adarsha Library, said: "Alongside promoting reading, we are committed to protecting biodiversity and the environment by planting trees every year. This initiative to install clay pots on trees supports birds, providing them with protection from storms, rain, and cold, while also helping maintain environmental balance and aiding in breeding."

He mentioned that the organization plans to gradually expand this initiative across the upazila and hopes it will encourage other bird enthusiasts to follow.

Established in 2010 in the village of Chourakorra in Tangail Sadar Upazila, Batighar Adarsha Library has been nurturing a culture of reading among villagers and promoting a knowledge-based society.

In addition to setting up mini-libraries in salons, bus stands, and stations, the library is involved in various social activities to support the community.
