An explosion caused by a gas leak from a stove led to the collapse of a building wall in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.

The incident, which occurred early Sunday morning, left a 45-year-old woman named Kavita seriously injured.

It took place on the second floor of a residential building on Nayapara Hridayamoni Creative School Road, South Kadmatoli, Siddhirganj, around 6am.

Kavita has been admitted to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with burns over 45% of her body.

Witnesses reported a loud explosion, followed by the collapse of the balcony wall of three rooms on the second floor. The ceiling showed cracks in several places, and the interior walls of the room also gave way.

Md Miron, senior station officer of Adamji EPZ Fire Service, said that the explosion was likely caused by a gas stove leak.

"The stove may not have been properly turned off at night, and the explosion occurred while trying to light it in the morning," he added.
