Police have recovered the body of Salahuddin Mahmud, a former additional secretary of the Ministry of Industries, from a resort in Srimangal in Moulvibazar.
The body was found at Balishira Resort on Thursday morning, located in the Radhanagar area of Srimangal upazila.
Salahuddin, who was serving as the deputy managing director general of the SME Foundation under the Ministry of Industries, had been attending programs in Moulvibazar on behalf of the SME Foundation on Wednesday.
After completing his engagements, he retired for the night at the resort around 10pm.
On Thursday morning, when he failed to respond, resort staff found the door to his room locked from the inside. Police later entered the room through an alternative route and recovered his body. He was scheduled to attend further programs of the SME Foundation in Srimangal that day.
Srimangal police station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam said: "We received the information in the morning and recovered the body from the resort. He appears to have passed away between 10pm on Wednesday and 8:30am on Thursday."
The body has been handed over to AGM Masudur Rahman of the SME Foundation.
