4 Bangladeshis arrested while entering India

  • Special patrol team conducted a raid
  • A case has been filed against them for illegal entry

Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested four individuals, including three women, while attempting to illegally enter India through the Panchbhulet border in Sharsha, Jessore.

The arrest took place around 7:30pm on Friday in a field near the Panchbhulet border.

The arrested individuals are identified as Apu Das, 20, son of Sachindranath Das from Gazi village under Kachua police station in Bagerhat district; Arpita Shikder, 30, daughter of Sanjay Shikder from Patilakhali village in the same district; Manjushree Jowardar, 37, daughter of Girishchandra from Kuporia village under Sreepur police station in Magura district; and a 14-year-old girl.

Khulna 21-BGB Battalion Captain Lt Colonel Khurshid Anwar confirmed the arrest.

He said, based on secret information, it was learned that several men and women were trying to cross into India from Bangladesh illegally. A special patrol team, led by Habildar Omar Faruq, conducted a raid in the Panchbhulet village field and arrested the four individuals. They were handed over to Sharsha police station, and a case has been filed against them for illegal entry.
