A rally and procession with red flags was held in Barisal on Friday afternoon, protesting attacks and torture on minority communities.
The event was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Combined Minority Alliance, which includes various minority organizations.
The rally began at the central Shahid Minar in Barisal city and was held to protest against attacks on minorities, forced conversions, and instances of torture.
Following the rally, a red-flag procession marched through the city’s main roads and concluded at the Natun Bazar premises.
Speakers at the protest rally stated that attacks on minority communities have continued despite assurances from the administration.
“Many idols were vandalized during Durga Puja. This protest was organized in response to such incidents,” said one of the speakers.
Ridoy Singhania, one of the organizers, remarked that despite ongoing attacks and cases, law enforcement agencies have not been sufficiently active in addressing the situation.
"No visible attempts have been made yet, leading to a continued escalation of violence," he added.
The speakers urged everyone to come forward to prevent further attacks on minority communities.
