A case has been filed against former health minister Zahid Maleque, Manikganj Awami League president Golam Mohiuddin, and 239 others for allegedly pouring petrol and setting fire to the Manikganj District BNP office during the Anti-Discrimination Student movement.
The case was filed at Manikganj Sadar police station on Wednesday by Md Murad Hossain, convener of the Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal’s Manikganj municipal branch and a lawyer at the Manikganj judge court.
The case names 91 individuals and lists 150 unidentified persons as accused.
Manikganj Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) SM Amanullah confirmed the information.
The case statement alleges that under the direction of former health minister and with the planning of district Awami League president Golam Mohiuddin and General Secretary Abdus Salam, the accused poured petrol and set fire to the Manikganj District BNP office and a motorcycle on August 4.
The assailants also displayed firearms and other weapons, causing havoc. The damages were estimated at Tk500,000.
