Two individuals, including a woman, were killed in separate elephant attacks in the Anwara upazila of Chittagong.
The incidents occurred in the Guapanchak shelter project and the East Bairag area of Bairag Union at around 1am on Tuesday, according to Anwara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ishtiaq Emon.
The deceased is Md Kashem, 60, a day labourer from Bairag Union, and Rehana Akhter, 38, the wife of Md Akhtar from the East Bairag area.
UNO Ishtiaq Emon said that the attack was initiated by a herd of elephants searching for food. The herd first targeted the shelter, resulting in the death of an elderly man named Dulal.
The elephants then moved on to attack a house in the East Bairag area, where Rehana was killed.
The incidents have been reported to the relevant authorities, and assistance will be provided to the families of the victims.
