A couple and their young child have been found dead in a flat in Ashulia, Savar.
The cause of death is not yet known.
On Thursday at around 11am, the bodies were discovered in a residential building in the North Bhadail area of Ashulia.
The deceased have been identified as MA Hasan Bachchu, 55, his wife Swapna Begum, 35, and their daughter, Jannati, 4.
According to locals, the family lived on the fourth floor of the four-story building. The flat was divided into two rooms: one room was occupied by the couple and their young daughter, while their 18-year-old son lived in another room.
In the morning, the son began screaming, and neighbors discovered that the door to their flat was locked from the inside.
They broke open the door and found the bodies of the three family members. They were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Neighbor Farida Begum said that the eldest son had seen smoke coming from his father’s bedroom in the morning and had screamed for help.
Neighbors forced their way into the room and found the bodies on a bed covered with a blanket, and saw evidence of fire and smoke inside the room.
Farida said that there seemed to be ongoing conflict between MA Bachchu and his wife, suggesting that they might have caused the incident themselves.
She also said that Bachchu had injuries from a sharp weapon.
Ashulia police station Inspector (Investigation) Masudur Rahman said that the police have been dispatched to the scene. An investigation is underway, and appropriate legal measures will be taken based on the findings.
