The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) has seized 275 kilograms of ilish fish being smuggled to India.
Based on secret information, the operation took place at the Ghilatli area of Dowarabazar upazila in Sunamganj early Wednesday.
According to BGB sources, a patrol team from the Banglabazar BOP in Dowarabazar upazila conducted a special operation in the Ghilatli border area.
During this operation, 275 kilograms of Bangladeshi ilish fish, valued at approximately Tk550,000, were seized while being smuggled into India.
The smugglers fled upon detecting the presence of the BGB patrol team, leaving behind the goods.
As a result, no arrests were made during the operation.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Hafizur Rahman, Commander of the Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB), stated: "The seized 275 kilograms of ilish fish have been handed over to the local customs office.
Additionally, in line with the interim government's directives, BGB operations and intelligence activities to ensure border security and prevent smuggling will continue.
