Former MP Abdur Rahman Bodi, who is in jail in a murder attempt case in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, has been shifted to Chittagong Central Jail for security reasons.

On Friday night, he was moved from Cox’s Bazar to Chittagong under heavy police escort.

On August 21, Bodi was sent to jail by Senior Judicial Magistrate Hamimun Tamjid's court in Cox’s Bazar.

He was arrested the previous day from the GEC Circle area in the port city.

The transfer of Bodi to Chittagong Central Jail was confirmed by Deputy Jailor Sumaiya Khatun.

She mentioned that Bodi was also accused in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Chittagong court.

On August 18, Abdullah, a top BNP leader of Teknaf Municipality, filed a case accusing Bodi and 20 others, including Upazila Chairman Zafar Ahmed, of attempting to murder him.

He was arrested in connection with this case by RAB-7.

Bodi, along with his four brothers and at least 26 family members, is listed in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ list of drug traffickers.
