Murder case filed against Hasina, 312 others in Munshiganj

A murder case has been filed with Munshiganj Sadar police station in Munshiganj district against 313 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and several senior leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations.

The case pertains to the killing of Dipjol Sardar during the recent anti-discrimination student movement in the district.

Shefali Begum, the grandmother of the victim, lodged the complaint on Friday, naming prominent figures such as former road transport and bridges minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, ex-Munshiganj lawmaker Mohammad Faisal Biplab, Munshiganj District Awami League President Md Mohiuddin, General Secretary Lutfor Rahman, former lawmakers Sagufta Yasmin Emily, Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das, and former Munshiganj Sadar upazila Chairman Anisuzzaman.

In addition to the named individuals, the case also implicates 200-300 unidentified people, including leaders and activists of the upazila Awami League and other associated organizations.

According to the case statement, on August 4, during the anti-discrimination student movement in the supermarket area of Munshiganj town, Dipjal was reportedly shot by Sajjad Hossain Sagar, the general secretary of the Munshiganj Municipal Chhatra League. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Munshiganj Sadar police station Inspector (Investigation) Harunur Rashid confirmed the filing of the case and the ongoing investigation into the incident.
