The Bogra district Jubo Dal has expelled for life its Kahalu Upazila joint convener Kamruzzaman Raja for violating the party discipline for the second time in four years.

A press release issued on Tuesday said Raja was expelled by the unit’s President Khademul Islam Khadem and Joint Convener Jahangir Alam after an audio tape of the crime went viral on social media.

Raja was earlier suspended for violating party discipline four years ago. “He recently got engaged in unethical activities. So, he has been expelled from the party for life. Action will be taken if anyone maintains contact with Raja,” the statement said.

After the fall of the Awami League government, Raja called Nurul Islam, the headmaster of Kahalu’s Muroil Model High School, on the phone and was heard asking for Tk50,000 for entertainment of the party activists. Raja, a former school student, alleged that the headmaster had earned a lot of money from recruitment when his party was outside power.

In response, the teacher refused to pay the amount, saying that the school’s managing committee deals with the recruitment. At that time, Raja threatened him with consequences.

Raja could not be contacted as his phone was found switched off.
