A fire that broke out at a depot of Pran-RFL Group in Comilla has been brought under control after three hours.
Four fire service units doused the fire at the depot on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 5pm on Friday.
The goods of the depot were burnt in the fire, but no casualties were reported.
The depot suddenly caught fire on Friday afternoon. Initially, the depot staff and locals attempted to extinguish the fire.
As the fire quickly spread, local people called the fire service.
Four units of the fire service worked to control the blaze. However, the cause of the fire is still unknown.
The depot housed all Pran products and supplied goods to all shops in the district. The fire destroyed everything in the depot, amounting to several crores taka.
Mohammad Forkan, the depot in charge, said: "Everyone was working. Around 1:50pm, there was a loud noise, and then the fire started. We are not sure where the fire originated from. After our attempts to extinguish the fire, we called the fire service. Initially, one unit started working, followed by three more units joining."
Bazlur Rashid, senior station officer at Fire Service and Civil Defense in Comilla, said: "Members of the fire service brought the fire under control. It is not certain how the fire started. Smoke is still coming out."
