Murder case filed against Hasina, 126 others in Savar

A murder case has been filed against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and 126 others over the killing of Abdul Ahad Shaikat, a student of Dhaka Commerce College.

Nazrul Islam, father of the victim filed the case at Savar model police station, Officer-in-Charge Atiqur Rahman confirmed the matter on Friday.

The others in the case include former road transport and bridge minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former information state minister Mohammad A Arafat, and former disaster management and relief state minister Enamur Rahman.

According to the case details, these individuals, along with others, ordered the Chhatra League, Jubo League, and Awami League members to carry out the attack.

The victim's father mentioned in the case that his son was murdered in connection with the anti-discrimination student movement.

He further said: "He is my only son. I seek justice against those who killed him. After consulting with locals, I filed this case, mentioning names like Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and others. I demand justice for the guilty."

On August 5, Shaikat participated in a protest against systemic inequities. According to the complaint, he was brutally beaten and shot on Mukti Road in Savar. He was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

An investigation is underway over the matter, the OC added.
