Former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former liberation war affairs minister Advocate A M Mozammel Haque and former state minister for youth and sports Zahid Ahsan Russel are among 115 people named in a case filed with Gachha police station in Gazipur over the shooting and killing of Arif Bepari, 28, during the recent student movement.
Rajab Ali, the father of the deceased filed the murder case on Thursday.
Gachha police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaul Islam said that Sheikh Hasina is the key accused in the case, along with 114 other named individuals and 350 unidentified persons.
In the complaint, the plaintiff mentioned that on July 20, during the movement, his son Arif Bepari was shot dead with a firearm.
Besides Sheikh Hasina, the case also names Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Metropolitan Awami League President Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan, former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Jahangir Alam and Metropolitan Awami League leader Motiur Rahman Moti, among others.
In a separate case, Kashimpur police station OC Zahidul Islam said that former liberation war affairs minister Advocate AKM Mozammel Haque is the key accused in an attempted murder case.
The case includes 56 named individuals and 200-300 unidentified persons.
The other accused in this case include Metropolitan Awami League President Advocate Azmat Ullah Khan, Kashimpur Thana Awami League President Anwar Hossain, and General Secretary Mir Asaduzzaman Tula.
According to the complaint, Sohel Rana mentioned that he is a salesman for a company and was delivering goods to various shops. On August 4, at around 4pm, while he was standing on the road near the Chakraborty bus stand, students involved in the movement gathered at the bus stand and began chanting slogans for their demands.
He claimed that following the orders from Mozammel, the named accused and their associates, numbering 200-300 unidentified individuals, attacked the protesting students with firearms, machetes, sticks, and other weapons.
During the attack, a bullet struck Sohel Rana's right leg below the knee, passing through. Locals later admitted him to the hospital.
