Former police officers who lost their jobs have staged a protest in front of the Police Headquarters to demand their reinstatement.
Thousands of former officers who lost their jobs over the past 15 years gathered for the demonstration on Sunday afternoon.
As they occupied the area outside the headquarters, the building's interior was effectively blocked off, trapping the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and other senior officials inside.
The protesters were seen chanting various slogans during the demonstration.
It was reported that although the protesters blocked both lanes of the road in front of the headquarters, no senior officials or the police chief were seen until around 5pm.
