Train movement on the Dhaka-Mymensingh rail route resumed early Saturday after an eight-hour disruption caused by the derailment of a coach from the Dhaka-bound Padma Express.

Hanif Ali, the station master at Joydebpur junction in Gazipur, confirmed that train operations returned to normal at 3:45am on Saturday.

The incident occurred around 9pm on Friday when the last coach of the Padma Express, which was travelling from Rajshahi to Dhaka, derailed at Salna in Gazipur. Despite the derailment, the train continued on its way to Joydebpur junction, leaving the derailed coach behind.

A relief train from Dhaka arrived at the scene around midnight and removed the derailed luggage van, clearing the track.

Sreepur Railway Station Master Saidur Rahman reported that the derailment disrupted the movement of several trains on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route, including the Teesta Express, Jamalpur Express, Agnibina Express, Mohanganj Express, Jamuna Express, Mahua Express, and Haor Express.
