Awami League leaders sued over Bogra BNP office attack

Accused include District Awami League president, general secretary

A case has been filed against 282 people, including 82 named individuals, in connection with the attack, vandalism, and cocktail explosion at the Bogra District BNP office on Nabab Bari Road in the city.

The accused include the District Awami League President Mujibur Rahman Majnu, General Secretary Ragebul Ahsan Ripu, and other prominent leaders.

The case was filed almost a month after the incident by Advocate Rahima Khatun Meri, the assistant office secretary of the district bnp and organizational secretary of the District Women's Wing, at the Sadar Police Station on Thursday.

Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saihan Oliullah, confirmed the filing of the case.

In addition to Mujibur Rahman Majnu and Ragebul Ahsan Ripu, other notable accused include District Awami League Joint Secretary Manjurul Alam Mohan, AKM Asadur Rahman Dulu, President of the City Awami League Rafi Newaz Khan Robin, General Secretary Obaidul Hasan Bobby, District Jubo League President Shubhashish Poddar Liton, General Secretary Aminul Islam Dablur, District Volunteer League President Sazedur Rahman Sahin, General Secretary Zulfiqar Rahman Shanto, District Chhatra League President Sajib Saha, and General Secretary Al Mahidul Islam Joy.

The case statement mentions that on July 16 at around 6:45pm, armed Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League activists attacked the District BNP office on Nabab Bari Road during the ongoing Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

They broke the locks, entered the office, and vandalized various items, including televisions, chairs, and tables.

They also detonated several cocktails in front of the office to create panic.

Advocate Abdul Bashed, vice president of the Bogra Nationalist Lawyers Forum, said that this is the first case filed in connection with the attack, vandalism, and cocktail explosion at the party office, naming 82 individuals, including two recently former MPs, along with 200 unidentified persons.

OC Saihan Oliullah confirmed that the case has been filed under the Explosives Act against Awami League and its affiliated organization leaders and activists. Efforts are underway to arrest the accused following the investigation.
