Coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement held a press conference on Sunday afternoon at the Tangail Press Club auditorium, where they detailed their plans to address rising commodity prices and ensure public safety.
The coordinators said that, in response to local demands, the toll at the Shamsul Haque Bridge on the Nagarpur-Tangail Road has been removed.
They also announced their intention to collaborate with market committee leaders to swiftly control the increasing cost of goods.
Until police take on their responsibilities, the students, along with uniformed members of the NCC, Scouts, Red Crescent, and cadets, will manage traffic duties.
Only those in designated uniforms will be permitted to perform these tasks.
The coordinators stressed that their movement is dedicated to protecting public safety and creating a discrimination-free society, rather than engaging in oppression, exploitation, or looting.
They acknowledged that while achieving freedom is difficult, maintaining it is even more challenging.
They are committed to safeguarding this "second freedom" that has been attained with the support of students and the public.
The press conference featured speeches from district anti-discrimination student movement coordinators Kamrul Islam, Imran Kabir, and Shahadat Hossain Siam.
