Bahamian woman held with suspected cocaine at Chittagong airport

A foreign national has been arrested at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport on suspicion of smuggling drugs. 

The arrested woman, identified as Stalia Shante, is a citizen of the Bahamas. 

Authorities seized approximately four kilograms of a substance resembling cocaine from her possession.

The arrest was made early Monday morning by a team from the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) stationed at the airport.

Another team has been dispatched to verify the nature of the seized substance, said Humayun Kabir Khondakar, director of the Directorate of Narcotics Control, Chittagong Division.

According to sources Stalia flew from Brazil to Dubai via Emirates airline on Friday, arriving in Chittagong the following day aboard a flydubai flight. Although her luggage did not arrive with her, she stayed at Hotel Agrabad in the city for three days. 

Based on a tip-off, APBn officers tracked her movements until her arrest at the airport.
