Law enforcers have arrested a youth over the rape of a four-year-old girl in Konabari Bymile area of Gazipur.
Roksana Akhter, sub-inspector at Konabari police station, confirmed the matter.
The arrestee, Rahat Mia, 20, was sent to jail by a court on Tuesday.
Fourth arrest made over rape on Udayan ExpressAccused Rahat is the son of Golzar Hossain of Dubachar village under Sherpur Sadar Upazila. The incident took place on the rooftop of one Afsu Mia's residence in Konabari Bymile area around 10am on Sunday.
SI Roksana said that the child stays with his parents at the house in the same area. On Sunday morning, the child was playing in front of her father’s shop near the house. At that time, Rahat approached the girl with his phone and said they would watch cartoons together. In the process, he took the girl to Afsu Mia’s rooftop and raped her there.
Later on Monday, the child's father filed a rape case with Konabari police station, leading to the arrest.
The child has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for examination.
