Water levels at 38 river stations monitored by the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) have marked rises while 64 stations recorded falls.
Among the river stations, water levels at seven remained steady while water at one station was flowing above the danger level, a bulletin issued by the FFWC said on Thursday.
The Kushiyara at Markuli was flowing 21cm above the danger level while other major rivers were flowing below the danger level.
The Brahmaputra and Jamuna were steady, which may continue in the next 24 hours, the FFWC bulletin said adding the Ganges and Padma were in a falling trend, which may also continue in the next 48 hours.
Major rivers in the northeastern region of the country except the Manu and Khowai were in a falling trend.
Water levels of the main rivers in the northeastern part of the country may fall in the next 24 hours.
According to information from meteorological organizations, medium to heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours is expected in the northern and adjoining upstream parts of the country.
As a result, the water level of the Teesta River in the region may rise during some point in the next 24 hours.
Significant rainfall was recorded at some stations in different districts of Bangladesh during the last 24 hours till 9am on Thursday.
A total of 80mm of rain was recorded in Sunamganj, 72mm in Dhaka, 60mm in Thakurgaon, 72mm in Chhatak (Sunamganj), 71mm in Lorergarh (Sunamganj) and 50mm in Nakuagaon (Sherpur).
During the last 24 hours, significant rain was recorded in some states like West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya and Sikkim of India, the bulletin added.
