A 13-kilometre tailback has been created on the Dhaka-Tangail highway, causing immense suffering to Dhaka-bound passengers.
Starting from the Pouli area the tailback went as far as the Bangabandhu Bridge yesterday afternoon. The pressure of vehicles on the highway kept intensifying with time. The vehicles also came to a standstill on the bridge.
Law enforcers were trying to ease the traffic and said that the pressure of Dhaka-bound vehicles was causing the tailback. As a result, vehicles are moving slowly on the highway.
Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman, in charge of Elenga Police Outpost, said the tailback was caused by the pressure of vehicles and road extension work on the highway.
