Four people, including a woman, were killed by lightning strikes in Langadu upazila of Rangamati on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Rina Begum, 35, Ziul Haque, 50, Obaidullah, 30, and Bachchu Mia, 30.
Additional Superintendent of Police in Rangamati, Md Maruf Ahmed, confirmed the incident, saying that four people died in the lighting and one person is reported missing in Kaptai Lake.
Rina Begum was struck and killed by lightning on the veranda of her home in the Atarakchara union. After finishing work, on the way home, three people were killed by lightning on a motorized boat at Mina Bazar in Longadu upazila. All three deceased were residents of the Bhasanyadam area.
Longadu police station Officer-in-Charge Harunur Rashid said a case of unnatural death will be filed regarding this incident.
