Historical play 'Abhishapto August' staged in Barisal

The play is based on the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

The 147th staging of the historical play "Abhishapto (Cursed) August," based on the brutal killings of August 15, 1975, was performed by the Bangladesh Police Theater Team in Barisal.

The program, organized by the Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) and produced by the Bangladesh Police Theater Team, took place at the Barisal District Shilpokala Academy Auditorium on Saturday night.

BMP Commissioner Jihadul Kabir inaugurated the 147th staging of the history- and research-based play "Abhishapto August."

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman wrote, planned, researched, and compiled the information presented in the play, which focuses on the planned brutal assassination of the great architect and Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his family members.

Members of the Bangladesh Police acted in various roles in the play, which highlights various incidents involving Bangabandhu and his family members at house number 32 in Dhanmondi.

Barisal Divisional Commissioner Shaowkat Ali, Range DIG Jamil Hasan, Barisal University Vice-Chancellor Prof Mohammad Badruzzaman Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam, and other senior officials of the district and divisional administration and police, along with freedom fighters, cultural personalities, and other invited guests from various professions, were in the audience.
