Two people, including a tourist, were killed and another was injured in a head-on collision between an easybike (a three-wheeler) and a motorcycle on Cox’s Bazar–Teknaf Marine Drive around noon on Sunday.
The deceased were Kiran Chakma, 40, vice president of Jubo League Ward No 4, and tourist Jihad, 27, a resident of Dhaka. Jihad's wife is in hospital with severe injuries.
Inspector Sami Uddin of the Baharchhara police investigation centre said when the injured were taken to the hospital, the duty doctor declared both dead. The body of Kiran Chakma was sent to his home and the body of the Jihad is at the Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.
Jihad's relatives said they came to Cox's Bazar from Dhaka on Thursday. Jihad and his wife were on Marine Drive with a rented motorcycle.
