A case has been in connection with the rape of two garment workers in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir upazila on Friday night.
The incident took place when the rape survivors were visiting a Boishaki fair in the upazila on Thursday.
The case was filed by one of the rape survivor’s mothers against residents of the area - Sakib Hossain and Shifat Hossain.
Another resident of the area, Shajjad, allegedly called both of the rape survivors and asked them not to file a case and demanded Tk10 lakh on Friday morning.
According to the case statement, the two workers, along with one of their male colleagues, went to visit the fair at around 8:30pm.
Later, the accused picked up them and took the three to a club room in the Jamtala Bazar area.
Later, they held them at gunpoint, took the women to a nearby jungle and violated them.
Kaliakoir police station Officer-in-Charge Abul Fazal Mohammad Nasim said they are investigating the matter and trying to arrest the culprits.
