The Islamic organizations issued a 15-day ultimatum demanding the arrest of those accused people over the lynching of two brothers by a mob in Panchpalli village of Dumain union in Madhukhali, Faridpur.

They also demanded the installation of CCTV cameras in every temple.

A demonstration and protest rally was held at Imamuddin Square on Mujib Road adjacent to Janata Bank in the district town with the participation of various Islamic organizations organized by Faridpur Islami Andolan Bangladesh.

About 1,500 to 2,000 people joined the protest rally.

Meanwhile, members of law enforcement agencies were alert since morning to avoid any untoward incident in the protest rally.

In the afternoon, a police riot vehicle and BGB personnel were deployed there.

Faridpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Morshed Alam was also standing with a force at the Janata Bank intersection.

He said: “We are monitoring the situation and assisting them in their peaceful rally. Bottled drinking water is provided for them in extreme heat."

"We are ready to deal with any untoward situation," added the SP.

Amidst the ongoing heatwave, the speakers and audience took their stand in the protest rally under the open sky and scorching sun.

Central Committee office secretary Lokman Hossain Jafri addressed the protest rally.

He gave a 15-day ultimatum and said that the main accused UP chairman Asaduzzaman Tapan and Ajit Member have not been arrested yet.

“If they are not arrested within this period, we will be forced to stage protest again,” he added.

“We respect the laws of the country. We have seen that the police administration has taken some steps. But this should not be eyewash. If the accused people are not arrested, they will be angry and then the lawenforcers have to take that responsibility,” he added.

He also said that such an incident happened in Bangabandhu's area like Faridpur but the people involved are not being arrested. "But if a Hindu was killed, you would have tried to satisfy the Modi government."

The direct involvement of Asaduzzaman Tapan, the chairman of the Dumain Union and Ajit Kumar Biswas, a member of Ward No 1, was found in the murder of two brothers, according to the district administration.

Deputy Commissioner Md Kamrul Ahsan Talukder has declared a bounty if anyone can hand over them to the police or give lawenforcers any kind of information.

He announced this at a press conference in the conference room of the DC on Friday evening arranged over the Madukhali incident.

Five more workers sustained severe injuries in the mob attack. Two of them were hospitalized.
