Severe heatwave: Jessore records country’s highest temperature at 42.4°C

  • The second-highest temperature recorded at 42.2°C in Chuadanga
  • The highest temperature of 13 districts over 40°C

Bangladesh on Sunday recorded the highest temperature at 42.4°C in Jessore as a very severe heat wave is sweeping over the Khulna division.

“A very Severe heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Chuadanga and Jessore and a severe heat wave is sweeping over the rest part of the Khulna division and the districts of Tangail, Faridpur, Gopalgonj, Manikgonj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Dinajpur and Sayedpur,” according to a weather forecast to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued on Thursday evening.

Besides, a moderate heat wave is sweeping over Barisal division and the districts of Dhaka, Madaripur, Kishoregonj, Narsingdi, Bagura, Naogaon, Sirajgonj, Rangpur, Nilphamari and Kurigram, Panchagarh, Mymensingh, Maulovibazar, Rangamati, Chadpur, Feni, Bandarban and Noakhali which may continue.

The second-highest temperature was recorded at 42.2°C in Chuadanga.

The highest temperature of 13 districts was recorded at over 40°C, according to BMD’s release.

Rainfall activity may increase over Northeastern part after five days, forecast BMD in the outlook of next five days.
